Tanzania’s geology makes it a country of real records. Africa’s largest lake, Lake Victoria, lies in the border region. Lake Tanganyika, the deepest lake in Africa, is also located here. Most impressive of all, however, is the highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro, at an impressive 5,895 meters. It is also the highest free-standing mountain in the world! In 1987, the landscape there was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The second highest mountain is Mount Meru at 4,566 m, which we climb for acclimatization on our Kilimanjaro tours. All of Tanzania’s high mountains are of volcanic origin

A safari in one of the national parks is an unforgettable experience. One of the largest and most famous national parks is the Serengeti, known for the “migration of the animals”, the world’s largest mass mammal migration. Huge herds then move through the steppe. The Ngorongoro Crater is also well-known. Thousands of animals can be observed in a confined space on the crater floor 600 m below the crater rim. Well-known names such as Krüger and Grizmek are closely associated with the Serengeti and have been extremely active in the conservation of wildlife.
