Details

After arriving in Kathmandu and settling into our good hotel, we recover from the journey and gain a first impression of the vibrant life in Nepal’s capital. Over the next two days, there is plenty of time to visit the art and cultural sites in the Kathmandu Valley, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Our challenging trekking tour begins in a relaxed manner with flights to Nepalgunji and Juphal 2,470 m – the starting point for our tour in Dolpo. We hike to Dunai in about 3 hours, where we set up our first tent camp and meet the Nepalese accompanying team. Over three days, the route takes us along the river, through gorges, views of one of Nepal’s most famous waterfalls and ancient cedar forests up to Phoksundo at 3,600 m. The beautiful Phoksundo Lake and the ancient Bon monastery are a highlight. We stay here for two days, which helps us to acclimatize well. Well prepared, we tackle the two high passes Baga La 5,200 m and Numa La 5,240 m together. Lined by stupas and chortens, we descend along the river to Dho Tarap at 4,100 m, where we meet civilization again. Along the Tarap Khola through a beautiful gorge, you return to Dunai in three days. Here we come full circle and celebrate the success of our tour with our Nepalese companions before flying back to Kathmandu.

We will be happy to provide you with details of the tour on request.

This challenging trekking tour takes you to altitudes of up to 5350 m. The tour is designed to give you enough time to acclimatize to the altitude, which is crucial for success on a trekking tour. You should be free from giddiness and sure-footed for this tour. You can move independently and safely on grassy slopes, scree fields and moraine debris. There are no technical difficulties. We spend several days at altitudes above 4,000 m. This is the challenge that needs to be mastered with a good walking pace and our professional group guide. It makes a difference whether you are walking on the flat or uphill. You must be able to carry your daypack yourself for the entire tour. The walking time is up to 7 hours and you cover up to 1300 meters of ascent or descent. If you cross a pass, the walking time can be extended to 8 hours depending on the conditions. You should therefore prepare yourself well for the trek.

This impressive, special trekking tour requires an interest in the country and the culture, which is foreign to us, as well as tolerance, even under simple conditions. The ability to work in a team is just as much a part of tent trekking as the desire and joy of hiking and being out in nature.
