Monastery and meditation

Three days of monastery and meditation

Overview

In the green hills above Kathmandu lies the Buddhist monastery – an oasis of peace, serenity and meditation. Take time for a few days of reflection and inner contemplation.

Trip duration: 3 days

Participants: from 1, no minimum number of participants

Price : from € 430.-

Details

From the airport or hotel in Kathmandu, a cab will take you up to the quaint situated monastery above the city in about 1 hour. Today there is enough time for a short hike in the surrounding area and to explore the monastery grounds. The next day you will have the whole day to relax, reflect and take part in monastery life. You can either gain an insight into the life of the Buddhist monks as a silent observer or actively participate in the daily prayers – pujas – and meditations. Meals are usually eaten together with the monks in the dining room. You will spend two days directly in the monastery. The surrounding area invites you to go for walks on mountain trails with good views of Kathmandu. The monastery is an ideal place to enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the Kathmandu Valley. On the last day of your stay, the cab will take you back to Kathmandu after an individually agreed pick-up time.

We will be happy to provide you with details of the tour on request.

Recommended clothing:

Appropriate clothing – shoulders and legs covered up to above the knee, no tops, no shorts, no miniskirts, no muscle shirts – these are required in the monastery. Comfortable clothing is very pleasant for the meditations. It can get chilly in the fall. Here we recommend warmer clothing and a down jacket. The rooms cannot be heated.

Warm socks are an advantage during the meditations. Shoes must be taken off in front of the temple. A large scarf as a shoulder cover is very useful.
