Overview

Explore the national park on foot, by dugout canoe on the river or by Jeep on jungle excursions. Chitwan National Park is famous for its rhinos and, with a bit of luck, we might spot the shy tigers. We then visit Buddha’s birthplace Lumbini and the Maya Devi temple. We will be captivated by the special atmosphere of this important pilgrimage site for Buddhists from all over the world.

Details

After breakfast, we take a private shuttle from Kathmandu on a good highway to Chitwan National Park. For two whole days we have the opportunity to explore the jungle by dugout canoe on the river and on jungle excursions on foot or by Jeep. We see crocodiles, rhinos and, with luck, the shy tigers. We also visit an elephant breeding station and one evening the Tharu Village cultural program. The following day we can watch the elephant washing and feeding before taking a private shuttle to Lumbini near the Indian border. In the afternoon, we visit Buddha’s birthplace (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Maya Devi temple. The next day, transfer to the airport and return flight to Kathmandu in approx. 1 hour.

Recommended clothing:

The lowlands of Nepal have a hot and humid climate all year round with daytime temperatures between 25 and 30°. UV-resistant and quick-drying light-colored clothing (avoid blue and yellow) is recommended.
